two wolvesTWO WOLVES

One evening an old Cherokee warrior told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

“One is Evil – It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

“The other is Good – It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

All my life, I’ve loved the beach, and now I look forward to visiting again with as new eye, thanks to Clark Little.

His work has been featured worldwide, and the story of how he got started is fascinating.

Clark Little’s astonishing photography is unlike any I’ve ever seen. Enjoy.

parkeningPerhaps no guitarist has had such a profound impact on me as Christopher Parkening. I heard his rendition of “Jesu, Joy of man’s desire”, and was inspired to take up classical guitar studies at the Guitar Shop in Washington D.C.

I actually saw him perform at Towson College, and was privileged to shake his hand.

In addition to being one of the worlds foremost virtuoso guitarists, he is a man of profound and abiding faith, and an inspiration to me, much later, when I was searching for a faith that works.

By the way, he’s also a world class fly fisherman… a very interesting man.

Please enjoy:

Christopher Parkening – FAIREST LORD JESUS

We’ve got a great family friend, Cissy, who lives waaaay out in the country.

Her black lab , Belle, had pups 8 weeks ago, and she let our son pick this little rascal out of the litter.

We spent the better part of the day just playin’ and having fun.

He hasn’t told us his name yet…

I’ll keep you posted.

hardtimesAs President Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, said last November, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

Wise words, from a very smart guy.

The media feeds us this scary headline stuff  all the time, or at least until the new scary thing happens ( or they make up a new scary thing to get us all workd up)

These are hard times for many, but there is no reason it has to be hard times for all. For employees, this is a particularly stressful time.  After all, millions are losing jobs, there is no job security, nobody is hiring, and on and on.

Maybe it’s time “to do things you think you could not do before.”

Here’s the point:

We are ALL self-employed.

Each one of us determines the amount of work we do, the quality of that work, and when we work.

Employees let someone else dictate the terms.

Quit being an employee. Build your own Business.

Learn a new, financially valuable skill. Start a Network marketing venture, or make a simple plan to put your current skills to work. Figure out how to provide value, and then find people to provide it to.

It’s not hard to start.

It is easy to quit.  So don’t.

The rewards…personally, professionally, emotionally, and financially are enormous.

Take the first step…make your plan.

A lot of people will help you…just ask.

Build your own Business.

Another of the truly great thought leaders in business and life today. This brief video gets right to the heart of the matter, in John’s own calm and matter-or-fact manner.

“Ebon Coast”…on a Lowden Baritone

Andy is a simply amazing talent that came out of  obscurity via YouTune. His combined videos have somewhere over 30,000,000 views. ( Yep..that’s thirty million+) He didn’t get to his level by buying a bunch of instruction books and thinking about it. He did the work, put in the practice, and let his talent run loose. Enjoy!
